Shopify

At 10am this morning I was scheduled for a meeting with two colleagues, one of which who was due to leave. She called this meeting so myself and the PA could learn how to update and upload to shopify, which could be passed down to the new starter at some point. After the meeting we were both emailed the documents of everything you need to know incase we forget certain aspects, which is really handy. I felt privileged to be apart of learning this and being given sensitive information only certain staff should have.
The main thing I was taught was how to add products and make them available for pre order, which are the four above. This needed to be updated on both the tax free hand bag page and the normal hand bag page.

To start you need to go on the product inventory and choose a similar bag, or same if that one is already on there but out of stock, and duplicate the page, including the images if they are the same. Update the stock quantity, insuring the field inventory quantity and track quantity tabs are ticked, following making sure to choose pre-order, then doing the same with the tax free product.

In order to delete products you again have to make sure you access the product through the shopify webpage, select view icon and open the product, copy the URL shown at the end of the page and save somewhere on the PC, is it incase it is needed to be re-uploaded at a later date, then just click delete product on the shopify page. To double check this has successfully been removed, copy and paste the link on another tab to check it no longer exists.

If you want to save an image or information from the webpage before deleting you can do this by going to products on shopify - export, this then goes to your email as an excel file, from there you can import the document into a CSV file. Once you open the file on excel you need to make sure the published column is changed from true to false, this then means you can still edit it, but if it is changed to false, it can go live once is has been imported.

I hope to put these new skills into practice. From this meeting I truly feel it has helped me broaden my knowledge from the business side of the industry, before hand I just thought it was simple to upload onto a website and have things available to buy. However I now have more respect for those behind these websites, a lot more time and consideration goes into them, as through shopify you can also alter the layouts of the website and navigation. I also also shown how easy it can be to cause a broken link and make the website unable to function properly, from being shown this, myself and the PA will be able to avoid such situations and know how to sort them out if this does happen.
