Customer patterns

A customer came in a few days ago saying she bought a dress and coat a handful of years ago. Now she has a new event upcoming towards the end of the year and would like alterations or new garments made.

Unfortunately I was not able to assist the made to measure meeting with the customer, however Lalage took her measurements using this template, some of the measurements are all of the way around the body and some are just where you can see the lines stop on the template.

After this I looked through all customer patterns which are located in office, after a short while looking I found them. Clarifying this these patterns were in-fact the customers, I took it into the onsite sewing room to use the pattern table for space. I measured each area of the pattern accurately.

I did find some discrepancies from the current measurements compared to the pattern pieces, which did not seem to add up. After questioning this with the seamstress and designer, I looked through all of the old made to measure customer books, these books amazingly date back a very long time. Once I had found this customers measurements from all those years ago, I found that there were no discrepancies as first presumed.

Now I was happy with the measurements, instead of having them written in a different colour on the template, I felt it would be easier to write it up on a word document for an easier viewing. This can be looked at to see what pattern alterations would be needed and then sent to the industry pattern cutters to produce both a toil and the new pattern.
